- Buy a good canister vacuum cleaner with a long arm and multiple attachments or a lightweight cordless vac that can handle the job without over-stressing your arms and back in the process.
- Start at the bottom of the stairs and get the corners and edges first, being sure to go up the sides to catch insect debris and dust bunnies. Then systematically sweep the risers and the vertical backboards on each stair with a large brush attachment.
- Use a small brush attachment to dust the railing as you ascend.
