Eat Up! Food Truck Parties at Gunbarrel Commons Park

That delicious smell you can taste wafting through the air is coming from the many food trucks near our apartment in Boulder that are busy cooking up some of the finest sandwiches, pizzas and BBQ in the state. So, grab your keys, pull out your GPS, and make your way towards them because you’re definitely going to want to sample what they’re cooking up.

Now, the city doesn’t allow the trucks to park in the city, that’s why the Food Truck Parties meet over at Gunbarrel Commons Park…which is in the county. There, the Comida truck cooks up the tacos and burritos; the Crock Spot simmers old school soups and stews and the Heirloom Truck serves up some of the freshest cheese, tempura and vegetables in the entire area.

And, every once in a while, the Top of the Hill Grill fires up their pit and chars up some of the most delicious baby back ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket this state has seen since Daddy Bruce shut down.

Do you have a favorite food truck that you track through the area? Be sure to get on Facebook and share your favorites with the other Habitat residents who might want to discover what you already know.

Warm-Weather Boulder Traditions to Look Forward to this Spring

April 23, 2013 By Habitat Apts Leave a Comment

Boulder Creek Festival

Enjoy the rides, food and entertainment of Boulder Creek Festival.

Now that the snow has finally started to melt from the hills around Boulder, it would be a great time to get outside and explore the Rockies.

This Memorial Day weekend, don’t forget to get out and enjoy the Boulder Creek Festival. This annual event, May 25-27, is preceded by a race that draws thousands of runners from across the country to our neck of the woods. After everyone cools off, there is plenty of fun still to be had. Between the food, the duck race, the music, and the art, it is a day you’ll never forget.

There is also the Boulder Farmers Market to explore on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., and Wednesdays, 4-8 p.m., next to Central Park in downtown Boulder. While it is still too early for most of the crops to be harvested, there are plenty of goods to be found. Between the flowers and the honey, you will not walk away disappointed.

Boulder Farmers Market

Shop local food and produce at the Boulder Farmers Market.

Finally, the Boulder Outdoor Cinema is the perfect way to end any day. Started in 1995, they have been showcasing some of the best movies on the outdoor big screen to satisfied audiences throughout Boulder.

What are your favorite spring activities in Boulder? Don’t be shy about it; get on our Facebook page and share the details with your neighbors and our fans.

Boulder Is Home To One Of America’s Best Bookstores

February 5, 2013 By Habitat Apts 4 Comments

Boulder Bookstore

The Boulder Bookstore is a must-see in town.

Bookworms rejoice, for one of the best bookstores in America is located near our apartments in Boulder. So grab you glasses, put on your reading jacket and don’t forget to pour something to drink because you’re about to find the books you’ve been dreaming about.

The Boulder Bookstore, the city’s largest independent bookstore, is world renowned for their selection, staff, and incredible atmosphere. Next to the Tattered Cover, there simply is not a better bookstore to be found anywhere in the United States. Whether you’re looking for a copy of your favorite James Joyce or Michener, or something from Rowling or King, they have plenty for you to choose from in the three-story, 20,000-square-foot bookstore on Pearl Street.

Even better, they have plenty of events each year where you can meet your favorite authors and discuss your most beloved books with other book lovers. There simply is not a better way for you to make literature come to life, and they’d love for you to join them for their next big event, like Gail Beaton signing “Colorado Women: A History” on March 13.

Are you a bookaholic? If you are, then turn to our Facebook page and let the other residents know about your favorite authors, books and tales. After all, what good is reading a good book if you can’t share it?
