Interested in exploring Boulder’s brewery scene but unsure of where to start? Wishing you had a friend who knew the local brew masters and which craft beers were worth a pour? Wish no more.
Lee Olliffe and his expert staff have been guiding tours for over five years as Boulder Brew Tours. Having studied and worked in Boulder at some of the local breweries firsthand, Lee and his pro team know the folks behind the scenes crafting some of the most popular fermented beverages of the day.
Per the 2015 Economic Impact Study released by the Colorado Brewers Guild, our state ranks among the top for number of breweries per capita production and economic impact. As of June 2016, Colorado is home to 350 craft brewery licenses in 94 different cities.
Craft brewers are independent producers that brew 6 million or fewer barrels annually. In 2015, Colorado reported production of 24.5 million barrels among these independent brewers.
Lee Olliffe is on the front line of this cultural phenomenon sweeping the Front Range, operating custom tour packages, which can include party buses (for special occasions like a birthday, reunion, or bachelor party, for example) and offer special community packages conveniently dubbed “Sunday FunDay”.
Among the most popular are the daily walking tours. Departing from Shine Brewery at 3pm daily, the two-hour tour takes beer revelers through
Boulder’s historic Pearl Street to a total of three microbreweries: Shine Brewery, West Flanders, and Walnut Brewery. Your guide will entertain and educate you on the history and intricacies of hand-crafted ales and lagers taking this city (and state) by storm. The distance of the tour is not extraordinary, but comfortable shoes are recommended. You will visit the three breweries, sample their signature beers, and enjoy the atmosphere of each venue.
Recipient of Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence, awarded to hospitality businesses that have earned great traveler reviews, guests of Boulder Brew Tours can rest assured that they’re in good hands.
As Lyndsey V. from Orlando, Florida shared, “My boyfriend and I had an absolute blast on [the] Brew tour. Our guide was fantastic and very personable and the beer samples were of a wide variety. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to tap the surface of the microbrew industry in Boulder.”
Well, there you have it. Whether you’re a local looking for something to do in Boulder, or a visitor to our area, Boulder Brew Tours has successfully hand-crafted their own experience, melding Boulder history with beverage expertise to deliver a delicious experience. Thirsty yet?
