Summer is primetime for relocating, so it’s likely you’ll be getting some new neighbors this season. If you find yourself in need of a welcoming gift, consider one of these simple, but thoughtful, items:
Coffee Table Books
Books are great gifts for any occasion, so a coffee table hardcover makes for an ideal housewarming present. In Downtown Boulder, just a short drive from our Habitat Apartments, you’ll find a few different independent bookstores with plenty of literary gift options, including Boulder Book Store and Trident Booksellers.
Consider purchasing a book on local or state history for new residents, or buy them an art book featuring photos of Colorado’s stunning scenery.
Edible Treats
Do you prefer the culinary arts to the fine arts or literature? Then perhaps gifting a treat from your favorite bakery, chocolatier, or Farmers Market vendor is the way to go. There are many artisanal food retailers near our rental community that can offer homemade goodies for your new neighbors.
At the Farmers Market, you’ll find a variety of packaged food items, like granola, raw honey, and locally roasted coffee, as well as fresh baked goods to buy. You can also check out two great shops on Pearl Street for more delicious gift ideas: Piece, Love & Chocolate, a boutique chocolatier, and Cured Boulder, a specialty grocer.
If you’ve been invited to a housewarming dinner party, you may want to pick up some craft beer or wine. Hazel’s has a large selection of local beer, while Boulder Wine Merchant offers many fine wines from all over the world.
Flowers or Potted Plants
If you’re completely unfamiliar with your neighbor’s tastes and want to play it safe, then buying them a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant is a great option. There are many florists near our apartment complex, including Passion Flower Design and Boulder Gardens, where you can find a beautiful housewarming present. Both stores offer convenient online shopping and local delivery.
Regardless of what you decide to purchase, it’s the thought that counts. Whether you end up getting them a colorful bouquet or a fine bottle of wine, your new neighbors will appreciate your friendly gesture.
