There are many exciting events occurring this summer near Habitat Apartments, including the concert series Rock & Rails. Located in Niwot, a few miles north of our rental community, this free music festival kicked off on June 4th and will continue through August 27th.
With its charming small town atmosphere and historic downtown district, Niwot is worth visiting any time of the year. In the summer, the town’s Whistlestop Park comes alive with this popular concert series. The venue is located off Highway 119, just a short drive away from our apartment complex. At Whistlestop, you can enjoy local eats and live music all summer long, every Thursday night from 5 to 9 pm.
Each Thursday evening the park opens at 5pm, with happy hour drink specials and a performance from that night’s opening act from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Headliners go on afterward, from 6:30 to about 9pm. Attendees can purchase drinks and food from local vendors, including craft beer courtesy of Bootstrap Brewery. Their seasonal brews include a wheat ale called Chillax Wheat, a chocolate-infused red ale known as Red Beard, and Niwot Homegrown, which is brewed with local hops.
While there are many refreshments to enjoy at Rock & Rails, the main attraction is the music. The concert series features a variety of Colorado-based artists performing original and contemporary music, influenced by classic American genres like country, bluegrass, funk, and rock. Headliners include The Wendy Woo Band (July 23rd), Chris Daniels & The Kings (July 30th), Rocktin (August 6th), Mojomama (August 20th) and The Hazel Miller Band (August 27th).
With popular musical acts from around the state and delicious food and drinks from local vendors, Rock & Rails in Niwot promises to be a fun event this summer. The community concert series is open to all Boulder County residents and visitors. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and explore a different part of North Boulder.
