Football season has begun, and it’s time to get ready, Boulder. Here at Habitat Apartments, we’re always excited for another year of Broncos dominance shared with friends and family. We know from experience that our apartments are the perfect place for your game day gathering, and we want to help you prepare for all of the exciting NFL parties you’ll be hosting in the season ahead. Check out this list of our favorite party tips for game day.
Plan A Potluck
Food is a must on game day, but making it all by yourself can be tough. Prepare a central themed dish at home, and have your guests bring the rest. We like to make a huge spread of chicken wings for our guests to enjoy. Wings are difficult to keep hot, and they don’t travel well, which makes them a great choice for your host/hostess-prepared dish.
Tell your visitors to bring dishes that are easy to share. Chicken wing dip, taco dip, cheese platters, meatballs, pigs-in-a-blanket, and macaroni salad are all popular choices. Focus on foods that can be kept hot in the oven or cold in the refrigerator.
Also, be sure to have space for the food that your guests bring. One way to do this is to set out a table for a buffet-style experience. After all, no one wants to be in charge of setting the table while everyone else watches the game.
Don’t Skimp on Drinks
Football and beer go hand in hand, especially here in craft beer-loving Colorado. Make sure you’re well stocked up on local beer for anyone who wishes to imbibe.
It’s also important to keep your drink selection varied. We’re lucky enough to live in an area that is rife with not only breweries, but distilleries, as well. Check out some of our local favorites, including Vapor Distillery, J&L Distilling, and Deviant Spirits Distillery.
Let’s also make sure to remember that some people prefer to abstain from alcohol. Be a courteous host, and provide other options besides water. Rocky Mountain Soda is great local choice, and homebrewed lemonade is a classic.
Bring On the Televisions
Serious football fans know that more than one game is played at a time. The Broncos are priority number one, but keeping an eye on their division rivals is also important. This will require televisions. Yes, you are going to need more than one.
Enlist the help of friends; in case you haven’t noticed by now, game day is a community effort. Plan out your selection of televisions based on sizes and how they’ll fit in your living room. Don’t forget that the largest TV is automatically reserved for the Broncos game!
No One Likes A Sore Back
Seating arrangements need to account for NFL games that sometimes run for three hours or more. Sure, dining room chairs are functional, but they are certainly not comfortable. Now is the time to ditch the extra couch cushions and make room for friends.
Floor seats can also work with the proper comforts. Check out World Market for a selection of floor cushions and poofs that will keep your guests happy for the duration of any game (and even into overtime).
Take these tips and turn your Boulder apartment into the place for friends and family to gather on NFL game day. The Broncos are counting on fans like you!
