Tricks for Cleaning the Stairs in Your Boulder Townhome

Most people don’t realize that while carpeted stairs are safer and less slippery than wood stairs, the carpeting can get just as dirty as the main traffic areas in your townhome in Boulder. Cleaning carpeted stairs is easy if you have the right tools and a few simple tips:

  • Buy a good canister vacuum cleaner with a long arm and multiple attachments or a lightweight cordless vac that can handle the job without over-stressing your arms and back in the process.
  • Start at the bottom of the stairs and get the corners and edges first, being sure to go up the sides to catch insect debris and dust bunnies. Then systematically sweep the risers and the vertical backboards on each stair with a large brush attachment.
  • Use a small brush attachment to dust the railing as you ascend.
